Pretty Painted Pumpkins

Yes, tis the season of pumpkin spice latte's, autumn leaves, Halloween sweets, fireworks and of course carved pumpkins. I love all of the above, but carving pumpkins, sharp knives and children? Not really the best, or safest mix, with that in mind we started painting instead of carving our pumpkins two years ago and it's a little tradition we have carried on each year since.

This year's pumpkin unofficial theme- the arts and crafts box exploded over me! It's bold, it's bright, it's beautiful just like our abbs. I love it. Abbie decorated every bit of it herself. Around the back, she's added a few Abbie stickers too for good measure. We have given it pride of place on the living room windowsill so the neighbours and the postie can see it in all its glory!

Painting pumpkins could not be easier, it's a great autumn craft for kids, perfect way to spend some time on a rainy day (as long as you don't mind a bit of mess) and the decorating possibilities are endless really. I've seen some fabulous idea's in recent days including poppy the troll painted pumpkin with added tule for hair. Also amazing more elegant/grown up watercolour and marble style painted pumpkins, these look gorgeous on sideboards or coffee tables. And more elaborate glitter pumpkins! I've pinned lots more ideas if you fancy a nosy you can have a look here
